Scripture Reading
Matthew 16:27 -
"For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what they have done."

Devotional
Throughout history, angels have played a vital role in God’s redemptive plan. From protecting the lineage of the Messiah to proclaiming His arrival, their ministry has consistently pointed to the fulfillment of God’s promises. As we live in the present age, their mission continues—now focused on preparing for the return of Jesus Christ, the fulfillment of the final promise.
The Role of Angels in the Final Promise
Jesus’ words in Matthew 16:27 provide a glimpse into the culmination of God’s plan. Angels will accompany Him in His Father’s glory, heralding the day of reckoning and restoration. This image reminds us that angels are not just protectors or messengers; they are also agents of divine judgment and restoration. Their role at the Second Coming emphasizes their alignment with God’s ultimate purpose—to bring about the complete renewal of all creation.
Angelic Activity and Our Responsibility
While angels prepare for the final promise, we, too, have a role to play. Just as angels actively participate in God’s plan, we are called to proclaim the Gospel, serve others, and live in anticipation of Christ’s return. Our mission is intertwined with theirs as we prepare our hearts and the hearts of others for the day when Jesus returns in glory.
This preparation is not passive. It requires active engagement in prayer, evangelism, discipleship, and holy living. As we align our lives with God’s will, we join the angels in pointing others to the hope and glory of Christ’s return.
Living in Anticipation
The promise of Jesus’ return should shape how we live each day. Knowing that angels are already preparing for this glorious event reminds us to focus on eternal priorities. Are we investing in what matters most? Are we sharing the good news of salvation? Are we living lives that reflect the transformative power of the Gospel?
Just as angels prepare for the final promise, we are called to live as ambassadors of Christ, pointing others to the hope of His return.

Application
 1. Anticipate Christ’s Return: Live each day with an eternal perspective, focusing on God’s priorities and sharing the hope of salvation with others.
 2. Join the Mission: Align your life with God’s redemptive work by participating in prayer, evangelism, and discipleship. Be an active part of preparing for Christ’s return.

Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for the hope and promise of Your return. Help me to live each day with an eternal perspective, focusing on Your kingdom and sharing the good news with others. Empower me to join the angels in preparing for the fulfillment of Your promise. May my life reflect the glory and hope of Your coming. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
