Scripture:
"You can’t just start something and then hope it continues to grow without your continued involvement." - Pastor Brent
So we rebuilt the wall until the entire wall was joined together up to half its height, for the people had the will to keep working. — Nehemiah 4:6
Reflection:
The pastor emphasized that starting something is not enough—we must continue to strengthen and improve upon what we begin. Nehemiah didn’t just inspire the people to build the wall; he stayed committed to the process until it was completed.
This applies to every area of our lives:
• Our relationship with Jesus requires daily pursuit.
• Our relationships with others require ongoing investment.
• Our ministries and callings require endurance.
It’s easy to start strong but lose momentum when challenges arise. But commitment leads to completion.
Application:
What have you started that needs strengthening? Maybe it’s your prayer life, a ministry, a relationship, or a commitment to serving. Ask God for perseverance to continue what He has called you to do.
Prayer:
Lord, strengthen me to remain faithful in what I’ve started. Help me not to grow weary but to stay committed to the work You have placed before me. Show me how to strengthen and sustain what You have entrusted to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Questions for Reflection:
1. What area of your life or faith do you need to strengthen and commit to?
2. How can you involve others next to you to help encourage and sustain you?
