Day 1 -
Scripture:
Genesis 40:14-15, 23 –
“But when all goes well for you, remember that I was with you. Please show kindness to me by mentioning me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison. For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should put me in the dungeon.”
…Yet the chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph; he forgot him.
Deuteronomy 31:8 –
“The Lord is the One who will go before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you.”
Devotional:
Joseph’s story hits a new low here—not because of a fresh attack, but because of something worse: silence. After interpreting the cupbearer’s dream and asking simply to be remembered, he is once again overlooked. Two more years in prison. No word. No movement. No change.
That kind of silence stings. Especially when you’ve been faithful. Especially when you’ve helped someone. Especially when it feels like your last sliver of hope just disappeared. Forgotten by man—but not by God.
This is a breaking point: not one of external suffering, but of internal questioning. “Does anyone care about me? Will I ever get out of this? Has God moved on from me too?”
And maybe you're there right now—trapped in a job that drains you, a relationship that feels distant, a season that won’t shift. You've served, stayed faithful, shown up. But the door hasn’t opened.
This moment in Joseph’s life reminds us: being forgotten by people is not the same as being forsaken by God. People move on. People forget. But God never does.
And sometimes, the “hold” we’re experiencing is not punishment—it’s positioning. Joseph had to remain in prison a little longer because Pharaoh’s dream hadn’t happened yet. And when it did, Joseph would be pulled out at just the right time to fulfill what God intended.
If God hasn’t moved yet, it’s not because He’s forgotten you. It’s because He’s still working something out that you can’t see yet.
Prayer:
Lord, I admit that I sometimes feel forgotten. It’s hard to wait. It’s painful to feel unseen. But I trust that You are still with me and still working. Strengthen my faith in this season. Help me believe that You never forget what You’ve promised. In Jesus' name, Amen.
