Scripture Reading: Jonah 1:4
"But the Lord hurled a great wind onto the sea, and there was such a violent storm that the ship threatened to break apart."

Devotional
Jonah’s storm was a direct result of his disobedience to God’s call. Instead of going to Nineveh as instructed, he fled in the opposite direction, and God sent a storm to redirect him. This illustrates how storms can be used by God to correct, convict, and lead us to repentance.
On the other hand, the storm in Mark 4 arose despite the disciples’ obedience. They followed Jesus' command to cross the sea, yet faced a fierce storm. This teaches us that storms are not always a punishment for sin; they can also be tests of faith.
Whether stemming from obedience or disobedience, storms are opportunities to grow in trust and reliance on God. They refine our character, deepen our faith, and remind us of His ultimate authority.

How to Respond:
 1. Respond with Repentance
 ○ If your storm stems from disobedience, confess and turn back to God.
 2. Respond with Faith
 ○ If your storm stems from obedience, trust that God is refining you for His purposes.
 3. Seek God’s Presence
 ○ During any storm, lean into prayer and Scripture, allowing God to guide you through it.

Closing Prayer
Lord, teach me to discern the purpose behind the storms in my life. Help me respond with repentance when I stray and with faith when I am walking in obedience. Strengthen me to trust in Your presence and purposes, no matter the circumstances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Questions
