Scripture:
John 11:16 - "Then Thomas (called 'Twin') said to his fellow disciples, 'Let’s go so that we may die with Him.'"

Devotional:
Thomas is often remembered for his doubt, but here in John 11, we see another side of him—his courage. When Jesus decided to go back to Judea, a place where His life had previously been threatened, the other disciples hesitated. But Thomas, in a bold statement of loyalty, said, “Let’s go so that we may die with Him.”

This statement shows Thomas’s deep devotion to Jesus. Despite his later doubts, Thomas was willing to follow Jesus into danger, even if it meant death. His courage and faith at this moment are often overlooked, but they reveal a disciple who was fully committed to Jesus.

This kind of courage is something we can admire and aspire to. Following Jesus sometimes requires us to step into uncomfortable or even risky situations. It may not be physical danger, but following Jesus can challenge us to stand up for truth, go against societal norms, or endure hardships for the sake of the gospel.

Thomas’s bravery shows us that even when we later face moments of doubt, our commitment to Christ can shine through. Courage isn’t the absence of fear or doubt; it’s the decision to follow Jesus anyway.

Reflection Questions:
Have you ever experienced a moment when following Jesus required courage?
What can you learn from Thomas’s example of bravery, even in the face of uncertainty?
How can you strengthen your resolve to follow Jesus, even when it’s difficult or uncomfortable?

Application:
Think about an area in your life where God is calling you to step out in faith, even if it feels risky or uncomfortable. Pray for the courage to follow Him, just as Thomas did. Take a tangible step of faith today, trusting that God will give you the strength to move forward.

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the example of Thomas’s courage. Help me to be brave in following You, even when it feels risky or uncomfortable. Give me the strength to step out in faith, knowing that You are with me every step of the way. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
