The Regard of God

Scripture:
Genesis 4:4-5 - The Lord had regard for Abel and his offering, 5 but He did not have regard for Cain and his offering. 

Reflection:
The concept of God's "regard" in the story of Cain and Abel highlights the importance of the heart's posture in our offerings to God.

Devotional:
When God looked with favor on Abel's offering but not on Cain's, it wasn't merely a matter of what was presented, but how it was presented. Abel's offering was given with a correct heart posture, reflecting sincerity and devotion, while Cain's lacked these qualities. This difference underscores a profound biblical truth: God cares more about the giver's heart than the gift itself.

This teaches us to examine our motives and attitudes in our offerings to God—be it time, resources, or talents. Are we giving begrudgingly, or out of a genuine desire to please God and do His will?
