Reflection:
Nehemiah’s bold request led to significant sacrifices. Leaving the king’s court meant stepping away from comfort, security, and respect into a situation fraught with danger and uncertainty. The pastor noted that bold faith often requires bold sacrifice. For Nehemiah, this meant trading the luxury of the palace for the hard work of rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls.

Scripture:
"If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me." — Luke 9:23

Sacrifice is central to following Christ. Jesus calls us to deny ourselves, take up our cross daily..to sacrifice daily…, and follow Him. This involves surrendering our desires, comforts, and resources for the sake of His kingdom. As the pastor shared, the church’s vision to boldly go and build requires similar sacrifices—financial, physical, and spiritual.
What bold sacrifice is God calling you to make? It might mean giving up something you treasure or dedicating more of your time and resources to His work. These sacrifices aren’t easy, but they align us with God’s purposes and deepen our trust in Him.

Application:
Take inventory of your time, talents, and resources. Are there areas where God is calling you to sacrifice for His kingdom? Commit to making one bold sacrifice this week, whether it’s financial giving, serving others, or setting aside time for ministry.

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the example of Nehemiah and his willingness to sacrifice for Your work. Help me to follow You with boldness, giving up what I hold dear to embrace what You have for me. May my sacrifices bring glory to Your name and advance Your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Questions for Reflection:
 1. What comforts or priorities might God be asking you to sacrifice for His purposes?
 2. How can you take a step of obedience in making that sacrifice this week?
