Scripture:
Isaiah 61:10
"He has clothed me with garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness, as a groom wears a turban and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels."
Devotional:
Joseph’s story of robes is deeply symbolic—but it’s only a shadow of something greater. The ultimate robe is the one God gives us in Christ: a robe of righteousness. Not earned. Not deserved. But given.
The truth is, most of us have worn robes that reflect our brokenness. Shame. Addiction. Bitterness. Pride. Abuse. We try to cover those robes with good deeds or polished appearances, but it never lasts.
That’s why the robe of righteousness matters so much. It’s not something you can put on over your old life. You have to take the old robe off. You have to bury it. And then—by faith—you’re wrapped in something entirely new.
Jesus wore the robe of mockery so you could wear a robe of mercy. He wore the stripes of suffering so you could be clothed in healing. And when He walked out of the grave, He left the grave clothes behind—and offered you His own.
You don’t have to keep wearing what life or sin has handed you. You’ve been offered something better.
Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for offering me what I could never earn. Thank You for clothing me in salvation, for replacing my shame with Your righteousness. I lay down every false identity, every sin-stained robe. Cover me in You. In Your name, Amen.
