Scripture:
"Then the king asked me, ‘What is your request?’ So I prayed to the God of heaven and answered the king." — Nehemiah 2:4-5
Reflection:
Before making his bold request to the king, Nehemiah prayed. Even though it was likely a quick, silent prayer, it was powerful because he had already spent time in deep prayer beforehand. His confidence came from God, not his own abilities.
Nehemiah teaches us to boldly ask God for protection, provision, and success.
We, too, need God’s protection, provision, and success in our personal lives, families, careers, and ministries. As our church steps out in faith to purchase property and build a new place of worship, we must pray boldly for God’s hand over everything.
James 5:16 reminds us that "the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective." If we truly believe this, we should confidently bring our requests before God, knowing He hears us.
What bold requests do you need to make in prayer today?
Application:
Prayer:
Father, I come before You with boldness, asking for protection, provision, and success. Guard my heart and mind, provide for every need, and give me the confidence to pursue what You have called me to. May Your hand guide every step. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
