Scripture:

Genesis 50:20

"You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people."

Romans 8:28

"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose."

Devotional:

Joseph’s story could’ve ended in regret. He shared his dreams with arrogance. He was impulsive. He was thrown into pits and prisons because of others’ evil—and sometimes because of his own immaturity. But none of that disqualified him from being used by God.

That’s the point. God doesn’t just work around our mistakes. He works through them.

We’ve all made decisions that felt right at the time, only to be met with pain, failure, or disappointment. Relationships that went wrong. Financial choices that set us back. Paths we swore were God’s will but ended in hardship.

Joseph reminds us: Just because you got it wrong doesn’t mean God can’t make it right.

Your failures aren’t the end of your story. They’re part of God’s process. He redeems broken things. He restores what’s been lost. He uses even the most off-course detours to direct you to His purpose.

But here’s the key—you have to give it back to Him. Surrender your bitterness, your need for control, your shame. The breaking point only becomes breakthrough when you let God lead from here.

Prayer:

God, thank You for redeeming my mistakes. Thank You for never giving up on me. I surrender my past and my regrets into Your hands. Use every wrong turn, every failure, every scar—for Your glory. I trust that You’re not done with my story. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What past decision or failure have you struggled to move on from?
  2. How can you begin surrendering that part of your story to God today?
  3. What evidence do you see in your life that God is still working through your pain?
