Scripture Reading:
Luke 1:30 -"Then the angel told her: 'Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.'"

Devotional
Mary’s encounter with the angel Gabriel marked a pivotal moment in human history. Chosen to bear the Son of God, Mary was described as “highly favored” (Greek: charitoo), a phrase unique to her in the Gospels. This favor wasn’t about ease or privilege; it was about being chosen for a divine purpose.

Mary’s Favor and Faith
Mary’s favor wasn’t earned—it was an act of God’s grace. The word charis, often translated as "grace," reveals the unmerited nature of this blessing. Gabriel’s words reassured Mary, inviting her to embrace God’s plan despite her initial fear and uncertainty.
Mary’s response demonstrated incredible faith. Despite the social and personal challenges of her calling, she declared, “I am the Lord’s servant” (Luke 1:38). Her willingness to trust God reminds us that favor often comes with responsibility, and grace enables us to fulfill what God calls us to do.

The Role of the Holy Spirit in Favor
Both Mary and Elizabeth experienced the Holy Spirit’s presence in unique ways, highlighting the divine power that accompanies God’s favor. Mary was told, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you” (Luke 1:35), emphasizing that God’s work in our lives is always enabled by His Spirit. Favor isn’t about our ability but God’s empowerment.

Application
 1. Embrace God’s Grace: Recognize that God’s favor is not earned but freely given through His grace. Trust Him to equip you for the purposes He has for your life.
 2. Respond in Faith: Like Mary, say “yes” to God’s call, even when it feels daunting. Trust that His Spirit will provide the strength and guidance you need.

Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for the grace and favor You pour out in my life. Help me to respond to Your call with faith, trusting that Your Spirit will guide and empower me. May I walk in obedience and confidence, knowing that Your plans are always for my good and Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
