Scripture Reading: Mark 4:37-41 - . 37 A fierce windstorm arose, and the waves were breaking over the boat, so that the boat was already being swamped. 38 But He was in the stern, sleeping on the cushion. So they woke Him up and said to Him, “Teacher! Don’t You care that we’re going to die?”39 He got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 Then He said to them, “Why are you fearful? Do you still have no faith?”41 And they were terrified and asked one another, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey Him!”

Devotional
Life’s storms come in many forms—literal tempests, emotional upheavals, or spiritual trials. As Jesus calmed the storm in Mark 4, He demonstrated His authority over the physical and spiritual realms. The storm was no ordinary weather event; Jesus rebuked it in the same manner He rebuked demons, suggesting a demonic influence behind it. This teaches us a critical lesson: not all storms are simply natural occurrences.
The disciples, though in the boat with Jesus, were overcome with fear. They doubted His care for them, crying, "Don’t you care that we’re going to die?" Their reaction mirrors our own when facing life's storms. We question God's presence, wonder about His care, and sometimes fail to recognize the spiritual warfare at play.
Storms, whether external or internal, can stem from obedience to God, as in Mark 4, or disobedience, as with Jonah. Understanding their origin is essential for navigating them. Are we experiencing storms because of alignment with God's will, drawing the enemy’s attention? Or have we drifted into disobedience, inviting correction from God?

3 Things to Consider while experiencing storms.
 1. Discern the Source of the Storm
 ○ Reflect on your circumstances. Are you walking in obedience, serving God faithfully, and yet facing resistance? This could be a demonic attack. If you’re in disobedience, it may be God’s redirection.
 2. Examine Your Influences
 ○ Evaluate what or who influences your decisions. Is your life led by God’s Word, or are cultural pressures shaping your actions?
 3. Anchor in Faith
 ○ Just as Jesus rebuked the storm, we too, through the Holy Spirit, have authority to resist spiritual forces of darkness. Rest in the knowledge that Jesus is present and has already secured victory over all storms.

Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for being the calm in the midst of every storm. Help me discern the source of the trials I face and respond in faith, not fear. Strengthen my trust in Your authority and presence, no matter how tumultuous life becomes. Teach me to rest in Your care and to resist the enemy’s attempts to sow confusion or fear. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Reflection Questions
 1. How can you distinguish between a storm caused by obedience to God versus disobedience?
 2. In what ways can you anchor your faith during turbulent times?
