Scripture Reading: Romans 8:28
"We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose."
Devotional
Life is full of storms—some caused by disobedience, like Jonah’s, and others resulting from obedience, like the disciples in Mark 4. Yet, Romans 8:28 offers a profound promise: God works all things for the good of those who love Him. This truth reminds us that no storm is wasted when we trust in His sovereignty.
Jesus’ calm demeanor during the storm in Mark 4 is a striking contrast to the disciples’ fear. While they panicked, Jesus rested. His rest was not born out of ignorance or indifference but out of absolute trust in the Father’s authority. He knew that the storm, no matter how intense, was subject to God’s control.
This same call to rest extends to us. Resting in God’s authority does not mean passivity or ignoring life’s challenges. It means surrendering our worries and trusting that God is working for our good, even in the chaos. It’s a posture of faith that says, “I may not understand this storm, but I trust the One who controls it.”
How do we cultivate this kind of rest? By anchoring ourselves in God’s promises. Scripture is full of reminders of His faithfulness: He is our refuge in trouble (Psalm 46:1), our provider in need (Philippians 4:19), and our peace in chaos (Isaiah 26:3). When we meditate on these truths, our faith grows, and fear loses its grip.
But rest is not just for us—it’s also a testimony to others. When we remain calm and hopeful during life’s storms, we demonstrate the peace of Christ to a watching world. Our rest becomes a witness, pointing others to the God who holds all things together.
Whatever storm you are facing, remember that God’s authority is unwavering. Trust in His control, rest in His promises, and watch as He brings beauty from the chaos.

2. Be a Witness of Peace
Reflect on how your response to storms impacts those around you. Choose to rest in God’s promises, allowing your peace to point others to His faithfulness.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for Your authority over every storm I face. Help me to rest in Your promises and trust that You are working all things for my good. Strengthen my faith so that I can glorify You in every circumstance. Let my peace be a testimony of Your power and love to those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
