Scripture:
Luke 10:17-20 - 17 The Seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in Your name.” 18 He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like a lightning flash. 19 Look, I have given you the authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy; nothing will ever harm you. 20 However, don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

Devotional: Jesus’s words to His disciples in Luke 10 remind us that our victory over the enemy is not our primary focus. While it’s incredible to know that we have authority over spiritual forces, our greatest joy comes from our relationship with God and the promise of eternal life. Our identity and worth are not defined by what we can accomplish spiritually but by the fact that we are God’s children, secure in His love.
Living in Christ’s victory means keeping our eyes fixed on Him and remembering that we are saved by His grace. The enemy’s influence is temporary and will ultimately be destroyed. While we should remain vigilant, we don’t have to live in fear. Christ has already secured the ultimate victory through His death and resurrection. Our job is to trust Him, stand firm, and continue living out our faith, knowing that we are protected and empowered by His Spirit.

Application: Today, take time to thank God for the victory He’s given you in Christ. Reflect on areas of your life where you need to rest in His victory rather than striving in your own strength. Let your confidence come from your identity in Him rather than from what you can do.

Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for the victory You’ve given me through Jesus. Help me to walk confidently, knowing that I am secure in You. May I find joy in my identity as Your child and live each day with the assurance of my salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Take time considering and discussing the following Questions:
 1. How does knowing that your name is written in heaven give you peace amidst spiritual battles?
 2. In what ways can you live out Christ’s victory in your daily life?
What does it mean to you that Christ’s victory is complete, even in the face of spiritual challenges?
