Scripture:
John 1:6-8 - "There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light."

Devotional:
John the Baptist came as a witness to the light of Christ, pointing others to the true light that gives life to everyone. Though he was not the light himself, John’s role was crucial—he testified to the coming of Jesus so that all might believe. John’s life and ministry remind us that we, too, are called to be witnesses to the light. We are not the source of light, but we reflect the light of Christ to those around us.
In a world filled with darkness, the light of Christ shines through His followers. When we live according to God’s word and bear witness to His truth, we become beacons of hope and guidance for others. This can happen through our words, actions, and the way we live our lives. Like John, we are called to testify about the light, so that others might see and believe.
Being a light in the darkness is not always easy. It requires us to stand firm in our faith, even when it’s unpopular or difficult. It means living in a way that is countercultural, often going against the norms of society. But the impact of shining Christ’s light in the darkness is immeasurable—it can lead others to salvation and bring glory to God.

Reflection Questions:
    1. How can you be a light in the darkness in your daily life?
    2. What does it mean to you to testify about the light of Christ?
    3. Are there areas where you need to be bolder in sharing your faith?

Application:
Identify one way you can be a light in the darkness this week. This could be through an act of kindness, sharing your testimony with someone, or standing up for what is right. Pray for the courage to shine brightly for Christ, even when it’s challenging. Remember that your witness can make a difference in someone’s life.

Closing Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the light of Christ that guides us in the darkness. Help me to be a faithful witness to Your light, pointing others to You through my words and actions. Give me the strength to stand firm in my faith and the courage to share Your love with those around me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
