Scripture:
Matthew 28:19-20 - Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you.

Reflection:
As Jesus’ time on earth drew to a close, He left His disciples with a powerful mandate known as the Great Commission. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus commands, "Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age." This commission is the essence of discipleship—disciples making disciples.

The pastor reminds us that this commission was not just for the original twelve disciples; it is for all who follow Jesus. Discipleship is not a passive activity but an active calling to go into the world, share the good news of Jesus, and teach others to follow Him. This mission is fueled by the promise of Jesus’ presence and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, as seen in Acts 1:8.

Making disciples involves more than just evangelism; it requires teaching, mentoring, and walking alongside others as they grow in their faith. The early disciples took this commission seriously, spreading the gospel far and wide, despite the challenges and persecutions they faced. Their commitment to making disciples changed the course of history and continues to impact the world today.

The Great Commission challenges us to look beyond our own spiritual growth and to consider how we can help others grow as well. It calls us to invest in the lives of others, sharing the love of Jesus and helping them to become His disciples. This is not just the work of pastors or missionaries; it is the calling of every believer.

Reflection Questions:
    1. How are you currently participating in the Great Commission?
    2. In what ways can you be more intentional about making disciples in your community or sphere of influence?
    3. What steps can you take to mentor or disciple someone else in their faith journey?

Application:
Identify one person in your life who you can begin to disciple or mentor in their faith. Pray for opportunities to invest in their spiritual growth, whether through regular meetings, Bible study, prayer, or simply sharing your own journey with them. Commit to being intentional about making disciples, following the example of Jesus and the early church.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for the Great Commission and for entrusting me with the mission of making disciples. Help me to take this calling seriously and to be intentional about sharing Your love and truth with others. Empower me by Your Holy Spirit to be a faithful witness and to invest in the lives of those around me, guiding them to follow You. In Your name, Amen.
