Scripture:

1 Timothy 4:16 - “Pay close attention to your life and your teaching; persevere in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

Devotional: Discipleship is a lifelong process. It’s not something we can rush or check off a list. It requires time, patience, and perseverance. In 1 Timothy, Paul encourages Timothy to be mindful of his life and his teaching, reminding him that perseverance is key to spiritual growth and leading others to Christ.

One of the challenges we face in today’s culture is the desire for immediate results. We want to see quick transformations in ourselves and others, but discipleship doesn’t work that way. Jesus spent three years with His disciples, teaching, correcting, and guiding them, and even after that, they still had much to learn. True discipleship takes time, and we must be willing to commit to the process.

At Kairos, the discipleship initiatives are designed to help you embrace this journey. Whether you’re new to faith or have been following Jesus for years, there are opportunities to grow deeper in your relationship with Him. The Kairos Moments Discipleship Track is one way to stay focused on this lifelong journey, with steps to equip you to embrace moments with God, others, and for others.

But even beyond formal classes or church programs, discipleship happens in the everyday moments. It happens in your conversations, your relationships, and your decisions. It’s a process of becoming more like Jesus, and that takes time, effort, and grace. Be patient with yourself, and remember that God is working in you, even when you don’t see immediate results.

Reflection Questions:

  1. How can you embrace the process of discipleship in your life, rather than rushing it?
  2. What areas of your faith do you need to persevere in, even when growth seems slow?
  3. How can you encourage someone else who is also on this journey of discipleship?

Application: This week, take a step back and reflect on your discipleship journey. Are there areas where you’ve been impatient or discouraged? Commit to trusting the process and persevering in your walk with Jesus. Encourage someone else in their journey by sharing your own struggles and victories in the process of becoming more like Christ.

Closing Prayer: Lord, thank You for the process of discipleship. Help me to be patient with myself and with others as we grow in our faith. Give me the perseverance to continue seeking You, even when it feels slow or difficult. Thank You for Your grace and for the work You are doing in my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
